Entering the Web

The drops of water shimmering and refracting colours across the delicate threads, they look like gemstones, crystals to your romantic eye. You pause and admire the intricacy of the patterns, mesmerising, hypnotising.

Hypnotising.

Mesmerising.

Perhaps you notice me in the corner. I'm spinning, a part of the fresh dew of the morning. I'm moving and you think I'm struggling, fighting to escape the beauty that is oppressive at such close quarters.

Look again, my friend. I gave up the fight when the threads that look so fragile wound their way around my legs. I stopped struggling when the jewelled dew flooded me and my breath stopped. I gave up, you say. I had no chance, no chance.
