I Believe In

I believe in
you
he said
silently
with all his being
As tears
slipped down my face
and the tissue i had clenched
now littered the
floor like soggy confetti.
'Redundant'
they had said
'Fresh blood needed'
'But thank you...'
and all that
Fifty Three years old
And discarded
like yesterdays paper
I looked up
His eyes were still on me
His tail
Still wagging
you
he said
silently
with all his being
As tears
slipped down my face
and the tissue i had clenched
now littered the
floor like soggy confetti.
'Redundant'
they had said
'Fresh blood needed'
'But thank you...'
and all that
Fifty Three years old
And discarded
like yesterdays paper
I looked up
His eyes were still on me
His tail
Still wagging
