The Comfort Zone

This morning
I stared into the void
Stretching beyond thought
Beyond conception
Endless and empty
Nothing looked back.
The world continues to turn
I sit at my desk
Like every other day
Not like every other day
How can this be just another day
Everything has changed.
Too tired for anger
Too jaded for disbelief
There is only room for despair
There is no security blanket
To comfort us now
Will the world ever be sane again?
