Price Of Love

Driving home, over the swollen hill,
I feel the loss, as distance opens wide
Between us, time carves a silent tide
Of memory, fading against my will.
The price of love is more than I can bear,
To live and lose each moment, precious, sweet,
My heart, with each pothole, leaps a beat,
But is smashed to smithereens as I share,
Not out of choice, but situation made
By your rules; my love has truly paid.
