In The Dark

The Sound of Your Smile
In the dark you let your guard down. You think I will miss that point when your smile falls from your face. But I don't. For although I failed to read what lay just a chip away from your chiselled jaw, what was hidden in the translucent alabaster -- In the dark - I miss nothing.
I hear the downturn. I hear it like the steady creep of a door finding its way home. It is a ghostly creak, a slide gouging out the warmth. The chill is shrill. And in the darkness, I am left haunted by the sound of your scowl.
