United We Stand

It's a cliché to say
A chain breaks at it's weakest link
But the most cunning adversary
Can spot that fault from a distance.

Their stare running along
The length of a line of militant defenders
Whose eyes all focus forward
Picking out those without the will to fight.

Or going one by one in turn
From house to house, office to office
Where each individual has most to lose
Seeking out unseen differences.

Planting the seed of doubt
That grows in every unique mind
That asks the question:
How united are you, really?

Because it's not enough
To be united
You have to believe
Everyone else is too.
