Organs Of Donation

The Worn-Out Heart
A heart too dilapidated for donation,
will remain in original cage.
A toll taken by life's vagrancies;
bearing scars from daily occurrences:
myriad joys, myriad sorrows.
Love's ecstasy and devastation
have worn it down like
a favorite, threadbare garment.
A heart never sheltered;
rather plunged into the current
over rough, rocky waterfalls;
along slow, silent streams.
It sacrificed itself to
the experience of being alive.
