I give my heart. Now it is yours alone.
Although not fresh, not clean nor even new,
For love has passioned deep within its core
And hatred too has marked it before you.
Oh do not fear the hate that once coursed through,
Nor envy lovers past that came before
I swear that when I give my heart to you
It is for you alone and only yours.
But promise that you'll never use it soft,
Nor hesitate to love or hate or feel.
For it yearns to know again the fears that oft
Have been: to live a life that's full and real.
So take my heart for it is yours to keep
I need it not now in eternal sleep.
