Yes We Can

Yes We Can
We wait our whole lives for permission.
It takes more patience than any child has.
We cannot wait until we are in charge.
We do not like the rules we are given,
we like even less the rule makers.
We wonder, who made them the boss?
At first it is our parents, and when older
it is the boss, our spouse, others at work.
We never learn cooperation or following.
We learn, questioning and resentment.
We continue to want our turn to decide.
When we get the chance, it backfires
and we have no one else to blame.
